Dave Sutherland: Example Hikes & Programs
“My kids and my best friends’ kids are very shy around new adults, but our ranger, Dave, started out discussing some bear poop, and right away, the kids opened up and loved him. I have never seen them more engaged and willing to ask questions than with him. Finally, they wouldn’t leave him alone (and he didn’t mind!) And they were picking up anything and everything to ask him what it was.”
- Boulder Homeschool Mother
Dave has been a field naturalist for more than 30 years, and has a wealth of knowledge on many diverse subjects.
Scroll through a sampling of the programs Dave offers to community groups in the Boulder, Colorado area. If your group is interested in something not on this list, contact Dave. He may be able to develop a program for you!
These programs are offered free to the community - many through Boulder County Audubon, the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Environment for the Americas and Friends of Coal Creek to name some partners. All participants must sign a risk and release waiver.
Many of these programs can be adapted for any age group. Dave has long experience working with children and families, homeschool and scout groups.
Dave also offers programs in Spanish!
